Review: On the backside of the package to these greasy spicy delicious and severely unhealthy snack chips, there is a passage that reads:

“It’s the only snack bold enough to call itself Doritos R brand”

From this day forth, I plan on calling every snack I eat “Doritos R brand.” Every cookie, every Take 5 ice cream bar and every apple will henceforth be known as Doritos. I’ll show ya who’s bold!

Seriously, what kind of claim is that? Claiming you are bold for using your own corporate trademark is like claiming to be charitable for buying yourself a hybrid car.

Is this come kind of challenge toward us… or toward snack foods in general? It is as if Doritos is waving a corporate subpoena in front of your face, daring you to test their litigious might.

The Doritos themselves (the actual Doritos, not my apple) are pretty great for junk food. I’m not sure what kind of deep fried magic the Doritos company uses when turning simple cornmeal into these cheese dusted triangular heart attacks, but I’m sure it’s not an appetizing process.

The Black Pepper Jack variety of Doritos is only a few years young. I remember the spicy qualities of these chips being stronger when I first tired them. Moderately spicy, these Doritos (like all varieties) have a fundamental base flavor of Dorito. If you suspend your disbelief, you might think the flavoring dust tastes like a spicy cheese when, in actuality, no Doritos taste like real cheese. They may have tiny amounts of actual cheese in them, but Doritos always taste like Doritos.

Salty, spicy and generic oil flavors…Dorito.

Please bring Black Pepper Jack back. We love Doritos, but nothing compares with pepper jack. Every company makes cheddar, and ranch, and bbq. You had a corner on the market and I search every store I shop in for the Black Pepper Jack. Please, please bring this flavor back.
