Review: I have tried a lot of veggie burgers in my day. Though I am not a vegetarian, I love vegetarian food and I find it amazing what people can do with tofu and soy and other plant products that one would use as a substitute for play-doh if it weren’t for moments of inspired genius.
Of all of the frozen vegetarian burgers I have tasted in my day, none receive a higher rating than Morningstar Farms’ Grillers Vegan Burgers. Unlike some of the other varieties of veggie burgers out there, Morningstar Farms doesn’t put forth a pretense of a grilled patty by spraypainting fake grill marks on them. Instead, they focus on the flavor.
To say these veggie burgers taste like beefy burgers would be doing them a disservice, because I believe that they taste better than beef. I am not a big fan of red meat to begin with (though I do enjoy the occasional all-beef hot dog or polish sausage now and then). The taste is vaguely meat-like with an added garlic hintand other fine spice mixtures.
I prefer to spread a bit of mustard on these burgers, sprinkle on a bit of Old Bay or other seasoning salt and eat between two pieces of toast, but I have also diced a few patties and mixed them in with stir fry and other rice dishes. Try a crumbled vegan burger on your next salad or in a broth-heavy vegetable soup.
The possibilities are endless!

Morningstar Farms has a unique place in my childhood. Though I too am not a vegetarian I would always heartily devour Morningstar’s smoked sausage links every morning. The idea of vegetables also being indistinguishable from other meat products was intriguing when you are 5 years old. Great site by the way (found through the ORG)
