Review: That’s right! I’m an Old Spice man. Now, I’m not inviting any of you to nuzzle up with my armpit nethers, but if I would, you would smell nothing but freshness and feel nothing but dryness. I came to Old Spice when I was a sweaty fat kid in high school. I was that kid who was still running the mile ten minutes later after all the other guys were done and the girls had already begun… and I sweat… a lot. So much did I sweat, that I had to take home my gym uniform almost every week to wash it while other kids let theirs go used for months before it even began to smell of the slightest BO. I tried every anti-perspirant known to man. Sprays, glide-ons, gels… you name it, I tried it. Usually with other brands, I’d be sitting in my Calculus class, four hours later, with disgusting sweat stains in my shirt. Old Spice was the only brand that would keep me dry. So, out of utilitarianism, I’ve become loyal to a brand. Nine years later, I am still using the stuff, occasionally humming the jingle from the 60’s as I apply it to my pits in the morning.
The scent of Old Spice is akin to that of baby powder with a hint of sugar. The scent can be so strong sometimes that I will get compliments on my cologne. I haven’t worn cologne since the sixth grade when I emptied half a bottle of Hugo Boss onto my body and caused everyone in the car on the way to the school dance to suffocate and retch. Maybe if cologne smelled as pleasant as Old Spice instead of like a bum’s wine selection, I would consider wearing it. As it stands, I simply stay dry and smelling like a freshly bathed baby (everyone loves clean babies!) throughout my day. Not a bad way to be in the world!
