Review: I would place this dish somewhere between 50,000 and 150,000 on the Scoville scale. Even upon the first bite of the chorizo sausage in this dish, I found myself sweating from the scalp. Because of this, I have made it a small life goal to finish this skillet sometime in the near future.

This is the second time I have tried this dish. The first was a late night and I thought that maybe my nerves were just shot from being too tired. I like spicy food. I can chow down on Indian Curry and Thai Basil dishes with the best of them. Yes, I feel it, but that usually isn’t enough to make me stop eating. The first time I tried Huck Finn’s chorizo skillet, I could only finish about a quarter of it.

This time, I made it to just over half. Afterward, my stomach lining looked me straight in the eye and said, “what the f%&@ are you doing buddy?!” This dish is H-O-T!!

Loaded with jalepeno peppers and chorizo sausage, all the eggs and potatoes in the world can’t mask or save you from the effects of this small skillet breakfast challenge.

The chorizo sausage is the greasy kind that I tend to stay away from, but the grease runs down onto the potatoes and spreads the spice and flavor that much more. The eggs deceive you by covering the majority of this dish with their neutral yellow. Don’t be fooled, because even the eggs will cause you to breath something fierce.

Despite the indigestion, numb mouth and disappointment of not being able to finish this dish, I am a driven man, and it will not be long before this battle continues.

Anyone out there who enjoys spicy food absolutely needs to get down to Huck Finn’s soon to try this skillet. Make sure you ask for a pitcher of water on your table and maybe some prilosec.

As for Huck Finn’s, this just isn’t a donut shop, but an old-style family restaurant that wins my heart by smelling of donuts, staying inexpensive and staying open 24 hours.

I still don’t know what Mark Twain knew about chorizo, though.
