From the It Sucks To Work Retail department
What is this? An anti-Buy-Nothing-Day campaign being waged by retailers? It looks like the Christmas holiday shopping season has already started. Before most of us can even decide what kind of stuffing we’re going to shove up the hind end of our turkey this year, retail giants have already started to roll out the deep discount sales. J.C. Penny (which this article refers to intermittently as J.S. Penney) is even planning on opening their doors at 4:00AM on black Friday in order to beat most competitors by two hours.
I’d need some hell of overtime to face crazed mothers and grumpy dads that early in the morning.

I feel a little guilty for saying so, but every year when I see headlines from Black Friday like “Wal-Mart Shopper Trampled in Retail Rush”, I secretly hope that the competition for buying the $5 off-brand DVD player eventually becomes fierce enough that natural selection takes over.
The old cliche about “The things you own eventually own you” is becoming even stranger.
