Review: I’ve long meant to try this rumored culinary diamond in the rough since I moved to Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood a year and a half ago. Set apart from the epicenter of Chinatown, Ed’s Potsticker house has a reputation of being some of the best Chinese cuisine in the Midwest at just the right price. It took a lazy Saturday and a grumbling stomach to finally confirm it.
It only seemed right to try the dish that this restaurant was named for after reading so much about it over at LTHForum.
Ed’s House Special Pot Stickers are unique in that they are not presented in the typical crustacean dumpling shape, but rather resemble a plate of taquitos. These long cylindrical dumplings are stuffed to the limit with tender and juicy spiced pork, steamed then pan fried slightly to give them an unusually crunchy texture. All the unusual makes Ed’s potstickers stand out, but the bold and moist pork filling makes them memorable. Well worth the dollar apiece price tag, this appetizer should not be passed up when dining at Ed’s.
