Review: Long-time readers of Consumatron (Hi, Mom!) know that I’ve been trying to find a good standby yogurt for a while now. Sure, I could go to Whole Foods or some boutique grocer and drop a quarter of my paycheck on some kind of yogurt that’s been passed through a bald eagle’s digestive tract three times, but I just want something that’s halfway healthy and tastes good to go on top of my fruit and/or oatmeal in the morning. This shouldn’t be so hard of a task. If I wanted to eat disgusting tasting live bacteria, I would have put off cleaning my bathroom and licked the surface of my tub.

Finally, it seems I have found what I am looking for, and it’s been right under my nose all the while. I make more stops at Trader Joe’s than most people due to it being ridiculously close to my work and on my way home. You’d think I would have tried their Yogurt by now.

Creamy, not too sweet and possessing the genuine taste of vanilla, I’ve found a keeper. Trader Joe’s vanilla yogurt even has the pleasing bite of yogurt without being too bitter. Don’t expect home-made down-on-the-farm quality yogurt here, but for the price and size, you get a decent breakfast experience and a highly re-usable container. No HFCS here. Yogurt cultures, vanilla and no preservatives will keep me coming back for this refrigerator staple.
