Review: Though I prefer fresh foods opposed to pre-packaged ones, the 7-Eleven company (whose president happens to have the same first and last name as me) claims that each sandwich in their green and white themed deli fridge is constructed out of the freshest of foodstuffs on the morning of the date listed on the package. If this is true, this means that you have approximately a one-in-three chance of purchasing a sandwich or salad that was lovingly made by a woman resembling your dear mother on the very morning of your purchase. However, I have seen the delivery man drop off several stackable plastic skids of 7-Eleven’s deli selection at my local convenience haunt and, suffice it to say, the brown-bag memories you have of your mother packing your lunch are more than likely far, far removed from the reality
Regardless of my speculation and due to some kernel of truth in 7-Eleven’s advertising or copious amounts of preservatives, all of the sandwiches I have had from them have tasted fresh. The tuna salad sandwich is especially amazing in its taste and texture. There are no soggy sections of bread and the crust is the consistency of the best processed white bread available at your local supermarket.

The salad itself is an unappetizing grey color, but tasty nonetheless. The crack team of scientists at 7-Eleven laboratories also struck sandwich salad gold with their decision to add celery bits and pickle to the mix, which gives the sandwich a little bit of a zing.
The very reason I go to a convenience store to purchase my lunch is because it is the cheapest place in the area surrounding my workplace to get an ample-sized meal while on the job. But if I have to go to a convenience store to eat lunch, I am glad to have a 7-Eleven where, much like Cheers, everybody knows my name.

I am sure I will buy the tuna salad sandwich again, but with the variety and new creations coming out of 7-Eleven central all the time, this sandwich is only the tip of the slushee iceberg.
