Review: There is that famous cliche that says “good things come to those who wait.” My question is, why? In this era of space-dust, freeze-dried, cryogenic, genetically enhanced, botox, silicon, anti-spasmodic, omega-3 injected and cloned food, why do we have to wait?
The Perennial blend is Caribou Coffee’s spring coffee. Thanks to the generous and beautiful staff of the Caribou Coffee on 1328 S. Halsted, I was able to sample this blend early and, therefore, will be able to enjoy it for a longer period of time than you. (nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah!) Who knows how long it will be around? Maybe after Spring has sprung, the perennial coffee will get tired and lay down in its own grassy meadow. We can only hope this doesn’t happen because this, my friends, is one of the best coffee blends that the Caribou people have ever brewed. Not only do you taste the earthy coffee flavor and the subtle light roasted tones without an annoying aftertaste, but there is also a hint of lemon or orange flavor hidden inside. It’s not as strong as coffee brewed with orange zest. Not even close. It’s so subtle you may miss it the first or second time you sip this stuff. I contend, however, that this is the final touch that all of my Caribou coffee will be missing once Spring ends and Summer begins.
