Review: Much like the produce at Dominick’s, the seafood is also very hit or miss. I’d describe this salmon fillet as a very light hit on the snare with a brush. This isn’t anything to write the fishermen of the world about, but for the price and size, it’ll do in a pinch.

The salmon’s color looks fresh and natural, but if you inspect the label, you will notice that the color has been added by god knows what kind of dyeing process. All things unknown, this fillet has been thoroughly deboned, the skin and scales still appear and feel fresh and after just a bit of seasoning and pan frying, the end result is a surprisingly robust and flavorful piece of fish.

If you want to impress someone, go to the fish market on Halsted or head over to the nearest Whole Foods, but if you just need some Omega-3’s (and mercury) in your weeknight dish, you could do a lot worse than a piece of salmon from Dominick’s.
